Bagamoyo, Hauptstadt von "Deutsch-Ostafrika", war im Bushiri-Krieg Hauptkriegsschauplatz. 7.500 Bewohner der Stadt suchten Zuflucht auf dem Gelände der katholischen Mission, das Bushiri und seine Anhänger, aber auch die Deutschen strikt als neutrales Gebiet respektierten.
Bagamoyo, capital of German East Africa, was the main battlefield in the Bushiri war. 7500 inhabitants took refuge in the Catholic mission compound which was strictly respected as neutral territory by both Bushiri and the Germans.
